Nanometer to sub-nanometer incremental motion with travel ranges of tens to hundreds of micrometers, solid state (piezoelectric) in nature—no stiction, fiction or backlash.


NanoAutomation® is NanoPositioning on a millisecond time scale.

30 Years Ahead

When PI introduced piezo-electric NanoPositioning technology 30 years ago, typical customers were research labs and universities working on laser cavity tuning, Fabry-Perot interferometers and filters. Few foresaw the impact of NanoPositionng and NanoAutomation® on manufacturing & testing processes in future technologies such as Fiber Optics, Semiconductors, Data Storage and Life Sciences. Today, even the Precision Machining industry employs NanoPositioning technology.
